ClickShare by Barco dropping connection at Seattle Church
Problem
A Seattle Church is using the ClickShare device from Barco as one of many devices to stream Sunday services via Zoom. All audio for the stream was going through the ClickShare device. Many times the ClickShare connection between computer and base unit would drop or degrade. The connection was via wifi between the base unit and the computer-side unit.
Solution
After examination, the base unit that was behind the big TV in the front of the sanctuary was placed on top to eliminate a connection barrier. However, this did not fully resolve the problem. Degradation and connection drops continued. Further examination found a source of RF interference. Once that source was removed the connection is now reliable.
Test and Assess Internet on Remote Land Near Ellensburg
Problem
A couple purchased 40 acres of remote land that looked down on Ellensburg, WA. The couple wanted to know what Internet options would be. Starlink is an option, but expensive and not conveniently portable.
Solution
A visit to the site with various portable Internet devices on AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile confirmed there was service for each. Various tests were done to determine best connection and throughput as a preliminary basis for eventual selection of service.
Transfer Internet Service from Comcast Cable to Comcast Fiber
Problem
A health care clinic moved to a new facility and took their existing Comcast cable service with them. (See previous post on this. The cable connection was temporary until Comcast fiber could be installed. Comcast damaged the first fiber that was pulled. After a second fiber was pulled, Comcast failed to installed necessary equipment for the clinic to plug into. Comcast was advised of this. After the proper equipment was installed, Comcast failed to properly communicate the correct settings for the new EdgeRouter that would be installed.
Solution
Comcast problems were referred back to Comcast for fixes. During the fix time a 10-port Ubiquiti EdgeRouter was obtained and tested. This was then put in place in the clinic. A mini-pc was connected to the EdgeRouter to run and log speedtests (along with associated data) every hour. After several days of logging that showed consistency and stability, a time after business hours was set to switch from cable to fiber. The changeover went without flaw, including about 12 networked printers.
Restore Configuration on VoIP Adapter
Problem
A Seattle, WA customer had an Obihai VoIP phone adapter. While configuring a second VoIP adapter the customer got confused about which phone was connected to which adapter and mistakenly reset the first working adapter back to factory defaults. This wiped out all his settings for his own VoIP phone service. Because of the age of the Obihai adapter, it could not longer be configured through the ObiTalk.com web portal.
Solution
Once the Obihai model and VoIP service were determined, research was done for a manual way to configure the Obihai adapter. A manual method was found and performed, restoring all phone services.
