Easy Monitor Handle
If you frequently need to move monitors and TVs around a handle will make life so much easier.
My simple way of adding a handle to a monitor is to buy a kitchen cutting board with a handle and either use it in full or in part. I drill holes to match the VESA holes on the back and screw the cutting board to the monitor.
In the image below, I am using a complete 15″ x 11″ bamboo cutting board with all four screws. The reason for using all four in this instance is because the monitor is really a 32″ older smart TV that weights 32 pounds. All four screws help distribute the load when picking the TV up by the handle.
I For lighter monitors, I don’t need to use the entire cutting board. I cut off what I don’t need, drill the holes and mount. Here’s an example of a partial board on a 27″ monitor. I prefer bamboo, but getting the right size sometimes requires a different material, such as the plastic board below.
Here’s another example using a plastic board in one of my early implementations.
While selecting and cutting the board, I pay attention to any vents on the monitor to insure they are are not blocked.
Here’s a cut bamboo example:
Drilling the holes in the right place is easy with the right template. I bought a flat metal VESA adapter that has nearly all VESA configurations. The one I bought is the HumanCentric VESA Mount Adapter Plate for TV Mounts. This is available from Amazon.

The picture below shows the template on the bamboo for the 32″, 32 pound TV above right after I drew circles inside the holes with the black magic marker for drill points.
I use washers on the top side of the cutting boards to help keep the screw head from going to deep into the boards and for a more stable mounting.
